Persian food at Lalezar @ USJ Height
1. Persian food at USJ Subang
We recently visited Lalezar, a Middle Eastern restaurant nestled in USJ Heights. It’s 20 minutes drive from Puchong on a rainy noon.
Our meal began with Mirza Ghassemi, an Iranian dish made from roasted eggplants blended with tomatoes, garlic, and turmeric. Mirza Ghassemi is a traditional Persian dish, primarily from the northern region of Iran, particularly Gilan. The dish is named after its creator Mohammed Ghasem Khan, the former ruler of Rasht and Iranian ambassador in Russia during the Qajar dynasty. According the google.
It’s rich in smoky flavor and carries a pleasant depth from the roasted vegetables. The dish was served with sesame glazed round pita bread that was beautifully bloated—once we bit into it, the bread flattened instantly, which was fun and a unique touch. The smoky, garlicky notes of the dip paired wonderfully with the warm, fresh pita.

2. Chicken Koobideh
For the main course, we ordered Chicken Koobideh, a delicious Persian dish consisting of ground chicken mixed with onions and spices, then grilled to perfection on skewers. The koobideh was accompanied by a serving of saffron rice, a fragrant and lightly golden dish that brought a subtle, yet distinctive flavor to the grilled chicken. They placed a slice of butter right above the saffron rice. Unfortunately the chicken is too tender, I dip them with sour cream dressing, and finished it before I could try the orange colour one.

The piece of chilli is surprisingly not spicy, tastes just like bell peppers.
As a sweet surprise, the restaurant treated us to baklava and non-sweetened tea. The baklava was syrupy, would be too sweet for some, with layers of phyllo dough and crushed pistachio. The non-sweetened tea balanced out the sweetness of the baklava, creating a perfect ending to the meal. Every bite of baklava goes with one bite of tea.
3. Pricing
We spent RM60 for 2 pax, and bring home the left over eggplant stew.
Though I’m still exploring Middle Eastern cuisine, dining at Lalezar gave me an appreciation for the intricate flavors and the care that goes into each dish. Whether you’re familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine or trying it for the first time, Lalezar is definitely worth a visit!
