Russian Cuisine @ TTDI

I was actively seeking Russian cuisine after the visit to Torte by Linda @ Puchong BK5, and we found another one in TTDI, Kuala Lumpur.

1. Medovik Cake

It’s a weird habit of mine. I always order cake first, before anything else. It gives me something to enjoy while waiting for the dishes, and I always end up feeling too full for dessert after the main course.

2. Kvass

Kvass is possibly the most surprising pick of the day. The other Kvass that I had was overly sweet. Well, truth be told I always had the bottled one that comes out from factories. This one tastes distinctly fermented and gassy. I love it although I can’t drink it like beer, glass after glass. I satisfyingly stop after the second serve.

Vareniki, Olivier Salad, Shashlik Chicken and Lamb, Plov beef

Russian TTDI Puchong

Vareniki Cottage Cheese. It’s the sweetened kind of cottage cheese. It comes with sour cream dipping sauce. Be cautious when ordering this if you can’t accept the complex combination of sugar and savoury flavour. I myself prefer the potato version I had in other place. (Torte by Linda @ Puchong BK5)

russian TTDI Puchong

Olivier salad. Beef bits with eggs mayonnaise , potatoes, carrot, spring onions. It looks like something we can assemble at home.

medovik Russian puchong TTDI

Best of the day. Shashlyk chicken and Shashlik lamb. What I loved most was that they weren’t overly seasoned with cumin. Simple, smoky and delicious.

Plov beef tasted a lot like Middle East fragrant rice.

3. Pricing

total RM272.60 sharing among four of us. There’s 16% tax included.

4. Astana Restaurant – Halal Russian and Kazakhstan Cuisine

Astana Restaurant actually serves both Russian and Kazakhstan cuisine. They are located in TTDI, the street right opposite One Utama. You know when you turn left it’s One U, turn right you swerve right into a row full of restaurants.

I purposely ordered all the Russian national’s dishes. They are similarity as these two countries shares a border. Sour cream, Middle East spiced.
