I spent 2.5 hours at Van Gogh Alive
Van Gogh Alive Malaysia
Yet I did not take a single picture, except for this
I am ignorant at Art.
When I was 10 or so years old, one of the fun thing to do was replacing our monitor wallpaper. Search “Free Wallpaper” and immerse myself in the digital gallery for hours. I had Van Gogh “Cafe Terrace at Night” as my wallpaper for a couple of months, until they rolled out Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone.
I didn’t know Van Gogh, but I like how the cafe glows at my screen yet not blinding as other wallpaper. It’s a dark theme that is not dark.
Another time I was touched by Vincent’s story, Dr Who, Season 5, Vincent and the Doctor.
1. The Sketching Studio
Pencil sketch. I drew twice here. The first time I didn’t expect the tutorial to stop so abruptly and I missed couple of stars and chairs and tables.
So I waited another around and start again.
2. Read
I took my time and read every panel on the wall.
Van Gogh not only drew a lot of painting during his life time, he also wrote a lot. It makes his painting comes with caption, and it makes this artist feel very presence and alive.
3. Van Gogh The Immersive Experience
40 minutes video.
Van Gogh had so many paintings that the screen flashes through his work. When it comes to portrait, the screen flash different portrait at different giant screen following the music rhythm.
